General Manager's Desk
I take this opportunity to advise members that this week Club Bosun Mark Condie has left the club to undertake alternative employment opportunities. We would like to thank Mark for his contribution and effort over the last four years and wish him all the best for the future. The club is fortunate to maintain the services of Shane Blackberry who has been assisting in the Bosun role since November 2015.
We have also accepted the resignation of Part Time Administration Assistant Jan Teerman who has obtained full time employment. Jan finished last Friday after completing 13 months of service with the club. We wish Jan well with her new employment opportunity. The position is being reviewed to meet ongoing needs of Club Administration.
Following some “body repair work” I am now fully back on deck and wish to acknowledge the many members and staff for their kindness and best wishes during my rehab time away.

Xmas in July
It was great to see 70 diners in the dining room at our recent Xmas in July buffet on Friday 28th July.
Also a big thank you to Penny Stewart for her assistance in setting up the room (and coming back the next day to dismantle and pack things away) and to Peter Austen who was able to make contact with Santa Claus and got him to make a special appearance on the night.
We hope all had a great night and thank you for your support
Our next end of month buffet will be Friday 25th August.
Saturday Night Rewind
The next Rewind night will be Saturday 19th August. These are a fantastic night with some great sounds from the 60’s, 70’s and some 80’s and are the ideal night for members and their family and friends to enjoy.
Bar opens from 6:00 pm (Marina bar will shut at 6:00 pm with members having the option to move upstairs and take advantage of the extended trading hours for a Saturday night), food available between 6:00 pm and 7:30 pm. Please note if coming for a meal you must book a table (menu will be available via our facebook page, website and around the clubhouse soon).
We will have all our popular cocktails available on the night at more than reasonable prices.
BYC Facebook page
We are constantly trying to find ways to keep members informed about what is happening around the clubhouse. One of the ways is via our facebook page so if you don’t already like our page jump in and have a look and like it so as to keep up to date as what is happening around the place.
Recently I placed an article in the newsletter asking the members to provide me with some feedback as to their thoughts on areas that BYC can improve on and what they would like to see more of etc.
After hearing many opinions of members 3rd, 4th and sometimes 5th hand it was surprising to only receive minimal direct feedback. This was the perfect opportunity for members to offer their opinions in a direct way (as I am more than happy to receive any feedback, both positive and negative) and assist in providing services and events that as members they would support.
To those that did provide some feedback I thank you very much and have taken your thoughts on board and hope to provide evidence in the near future that I have listened to you and look forward to your continued support.
HOBART JAGUAR LAND ROVER - WINTER SERIES 2017 - RACE 4 It was classic winter racing on the River Derwent for Race 4 of the Hobart Jaguar Land Rover Winter Series. 28 boats faced the starting line in three divisions with a light 5-10 knot Northerly breeze and down river current. Starting was “tricky” as usual with the down-river current placing a premium on timing and accurate communication between helmsperson and bowman.
