MEMBERS WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT... to create a BYC Members’ Benefit Scheme
Aim: to value add to our current membership card and provide our members with more benefits by creating a Members Benefit Scheme.
How does it work? On presentation of your BYC card and proof of identity you would be eligible for a discount at partnering businesses who join this scheme.
The Club is currently looking for businesses who would like to partner with us and is offering members who have their own business the opportunity to become involved in the scheme. Benefits for the participating businesses
BYC has over 900 members you could attract to your business by offering some type of discount on your products or services. This scheme would provide your business with the opportunity to raise its profile in the local community and increase your customer base.
Your business name would be promoted to BYC members.
Your business name, logo with hyperlink and your offer to members would be displayed on the Membership page of the BYC web site.
Participating businesses would also be given the opportunity to provide the Club with a half page or smaller advertisement to place in the BYC newsletter, at no cost, up to four times during the year.
If you would like to be involved in this scheme please contact Phil Jackman, General Manager of the Bellerive Yacht Club, by emailing email@example.com or phoning 6244 1353 as soon as possible.
SAILING SEASON 2017-18
COMBINED CLUBS MIDWEEK SERIES - OVERALL RESULTS “BIRNGANA TROPHY”
BYC yachts make “Clean sweep” of the Combined Clubs Midweek Series overall results…. After 27 races conducted in 3 series throughout the 2017-18 sailing season, three BYC boats, skippers and crews took out first, second and third places in the increasingly popular Midweek series. Well done to ‘Wizza “Wise and his Crew on “Madman’s Woodyard” for being the first place boat over the three series and winner of the “Birngana Trophy”, second place went to Terry Bragg & Crew (arguably the most “mature” racing skipper in Tasmania) and third place to “Piya” Rob Laughlin & crew, one of the smallest yachts in the fleet. The Combined Clubs Midweek series continues to go from strength to strength with competitive racing coupled with great comradery and glorious afternoon sailing conditions. Finally a sincere thanks to all the volunteers from the three Clubs for making this most enjoyable racing possible.

The Princess 5,“Heart and Soul” is an outstanding flybridge motor yacht. The presentation can only be described as faultless. The owner, with a strong boating history, is simply fastidious. Princess Motor Yachts represent the best in British yacht design and construction. Their functional design, the attention to detail, the craftsmanship, and performance is legendary. Welcome aboard. Note the ambiance of luxury and comfort. Step through the transom gate to the spacious cockpit (laid teak presents like new) with its comfortable lounge and hardtop. The triple fold doors effectively integrate cockpit and saloon. You will note the fine Cherrywood fit out and the light and all-around visibility. Upstairs (internal or cockpit stairs), the spacious flybridge offers lounge-style seating, a wet bar, and BBQ and can be closed off to the elements. The two helm stations are identically equipped with the full array of navigation and engine diagnostic instruments. It should be noted that with the aid of bow and stern thrusters coupled with a wireless remote controller the current owner docks her single-handed. “Heart and Soul” is ready for you to step aboard and experience cruising at its most luxurious.

I wish to inform members that recently our head chef, Wolfgang Frankl, has resigned from his position at BYC.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Wolfgang for the service that he provided to Bellerive Yacht Club since his appointment as head chef in February 2016 and wish him well for the future.
Currently we have Tyla Mills covering this position.
Tyla has been employed by BYC for more than 12 months and acted as Wolfgang’s second chef. Tyla has past experience working at Hobart function centre, Southern lights and Newstead.
This has been a smooth transition to date with Tyla being acting head chef for the last couple of weeks and feedback from customers has been very complimentary in this period.
We will soon be introducing some new items to our dining and bar menus and we look forward to your continued support.
Footie-tipping update:Firstly, to clarify something for the non-sailing amongst you, a “live aboard” is not what you cut the cat’s meat up on.
Speaking of minced beef, it’s hard to believe the Doggies,Crows and Freo were recent Grand Finalists & talking of “get out of jail”, Roughie’s very dubious free in the dying seconds lets the Hawks hang in there - just.
It’s easy this week, only 7 games - including Pies Vs Dees, Monday.Good tipping.
